Alexander's Restaurant & Wine Bar to Reopen on March 28 in Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort

Tuesday, March 28th, 2017

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 2017) — Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C., has announced the March 28 reopening of an island favorite, Alexander’s Restaurant & Wine Bar.

Located at 76 Queen’s Folly Road on the main entry road to Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, Alexander’s has been a popular choice of the Hilton Head Island dining scene since 1977. With a closure in October due to Hurricane Matthew, the original partners decided not to reopen.

Now, Alexander’s is set to reopen as an upscale seafood restaurant with a new look and a new menu, featuring seasonally inspired cuisine, locally caught seafood and many locally sourced ingredients. The new décor in Alexander’s lagoon-front setting will offer more of a Lowcountry appeal. The menu will pay tribute to many classic Alexander’s favorites such as Stuffed Flounder, Shrimp and Grits, and Wiener Schnitzel. Alexander’s will be open for early dining and dinner, seven nights a week.

Part of the remodeling includes a stand-up bar by the existing bar, allowing patrons more comfort. Other modern touches added during the renovation include outlets in the dining room with USB ports for charging personal devices, and an electronic message board at the hostess stand to inform guests of recreational opportunities and resort activities. There will be familiar faces, too, as many of Alexander’s longtime staff members have also returned to provide attentive, friendly service.

“We are excited to welcome back long-time guests as well as newcomers to the new Alexander’s,” said Greenwood Communities & Resort's W.M. "Bubba" Self Jr. “Starting Tuesday, we look forward to seeing many familiar faces enjoying the updated look and menu at our classic island mainstay.”

Alexander’s will be headed by resort Director of Food and Beverage and certified Sommelier, Brian Couey, previously of Pinehurst Resort and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.
